Khulo Local Action Group visited Kazbegi to Share Experience in Rural Development
On 5th of July 2019, members of the Khulo Local Action Group (LAG) visited Kazbegi LAG. The aim of the visit was to share experience between Khulo and Kazbegi LAGs.
Within the visit, 20 representatives of Khulo LAG, has visited business initiatives, such as trout farm, ice-cream parlour, dental clinic and gym, funded through EU’s ENPARD Kazbegi Project’s grant component. During the site visits, Khulo LAG members have interviewed granted beneficiaries and got technical details.
In the afternoon working meeting between Khulo and Kazbegi Local Action Groups, was organized. During the meeting parties have shortly reviewed the background and following processes. Representatives of Kazbegi LAG shared experience and future operational plans. The attention was paid to determination and implementation of strategic action and priorities of the strategy. During the meeting, there was a discussion on grant component procedures announced within the ENPARD projects. The parties have also discussed on the LAGs functioning and fundraising alternatives.
The visit was organized in the framework of the EU-funded project “Promotion of Rural Development and Diversification in Khulo Municipality” implemented by Caritas Czech Republic in Georgia (CCRG) under the European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD).
The EU is supporting agriculture and rural development in Georgia through its ENPARD Programme. Implemented since 2013 with a total budget of EUR 179.5 million, the main goal of ENPARD is to reduce rural poverty in Georgia. The first phase of ENPARD in Georgia focused on developing the potential of agriculture. The second and third phases of ENPARD focus on creating economic opportunities for rural population that go beyond agricultural activities. More information on ENPARD is available at: www.enpard.ge.
